Bob holds an MBA Degree and
is President of Deshazo Crane Company, a Birmingham, Alabama overhead
crane manufacturing company. He was born and lived in Cleveland,
Ohio before moving to Birmingham. “I have had a number of artistic
avocations, over the years, including photography and wood working but
none has been as satisfying for my artistic expression as glass.
I love glass as a material and started working with it about 12 years
ago. There is a certain magic to creating objects out of glass
that cannot be duplicated in any other material.” Bob is self taught
and has read almost every book available on the subjects of fusing and
casting glass. When Bob got interested in working with optical
crystal he was fortunate to be able to spend a few days of training
with Christopher Reis who is world famous for his optical glass
sculptures.
One of Bob’s optical glass pieces is in the permanent collection of
the Maltz Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
